Important Requirements
To rent a motorbike in Vietnam, you'll need an International Driver's License (1968 version) stamped in section A or A1, and your country must be one of the 85 nations participating in the 1968 Vienna Convention. Note:
The Ha Giang Loop is a challenging and adventurous route that requires careful preparation and strict safety precautions. It is considered one of the most dangerous roads in Vietnam, with common risks such as slippery roads, sharp turns, steep slopes, and rocks on the road. Motorcycle accidents are especially common among inexperienced or speeding drivers. We recommend that self-riders have at least 3 months of riding experience beforehand.
If you do not have sufficient experience, we strongly recommend you book a tour with a local Easy Rider who can drive you safely while you relax and enjoy the sights. The cost of Easy Rider is not much higher than self-driving, but it is worth it for your peace of mind and enjoyment.
