Let’s get started!

What do you know about Lung Tam Village?

Lung Tam Village is a peaceful H’mong village, located in Quan Ba District, about 50 kilometers from Ha Giang City. It is surrounded by rolling mountains and the gentle Mien River, offering visitors a quiet, scenic retreat into nature.

In 2001, Lung Tam Village began as a small cooperative project with only ten households. Over time, it has grown into a lively community of more than 100 families. They work together to preserve this traditional craft and create a wide range of handmade products such as fabric, clothing, bags, scarves, pillows, and wallets. All these products are handwoven and hand-embroidered from local hemp fibers, featuring patterns unique to the area.

What makes Lung Tam special is its rich cultural heritage, especially the long-standing tradition of linen weaving. For generations, H’mong women have passed down the art of hand-weaving hemp fabric. It’s a skill that reflects patience, creativity, and the deep connection between people and nature. In H’mong culture, weaving also presents a woman’s dedication.

Weaving in Lung Tam Village is a careful and time-consuming process. Each piece of cloth is dipped many times in natural indigo dye and left to dry before being dyed again. Depending on the weather, this can take a few sunny days or several months during the rainy season. In the end, the fabric has a rich color and a beautiful texture. Visitors to Lung Tam Village can watch the process up close and even try weaving by hand themselves.

Today, Lung Tam’s linen is popular across Vietnam and is also exported to more than 20 countries worldwide. This traditional craft provides a stable source of income for the local community while helping preserve ethnic culture and share its beauty with people from near and far.

When is the best time to explore Lung Tam Village?

The best time to visit Ha Giang in general, and Lung Tam Village in particular, is from September to April. This is the dry season, offering the perfect balance of scenic beauty, cultural experiences, and safer road conditions throughout the journey.

During this time, the weather is pleasant with daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. Days are usually sunny and clear, while evenings and early mornings feel cool and comfortable without being too cold.

From September to April, Lung Tam Village reveals a different kind of beauty in every season.

From September to October, golden rice terraces shine under soft sunlight, creating a calm and inviting landscape. In November, buckwheat flowers cover the hills in soft shades of pink and purple, followed by fields of bright yellow rapeseed flowers in December. When spring arrives, plum, peach, pear, and apricot blossoms bloom throughout the village, filling Lung Tam with fresh colors and a quiet sense of renewal.

A gentle note for travelers: July and August mark the rainy season in Ha Giang and Lung Tam Village. Rainfall can make mountain roads more slippery, so travel may feel slower and more limited at times. With a bit of extra preparation and flexibility, you can still enjoy the journey and experience the area safely during this season.

The easiest way to know about Lung Tam Village’s weather is to follow the general climate of Ha Giang. You can also explore our best time to visit Ha Giang Loop guide, where we share local experiences to help you plan your perfect journey.

How to get to Lung Tam Village?

To reach Lung Tam Village, you should first travel to Ha Giang City. The most convenient option is taking a night bus, which usually takes around 8–9 hours. Most buses are modern sleeper buses with comfortable beds, allowing you to rest well before reaching Ha Giang.

“Lila can help arrange bus booking from anywhere in northern Vietnam. Simply contact us, and we’ll take care of the booking for you.”

Then, move from Ha Giang City to Lung Tam village.

From Ha Giang City, you can ride along National Highway 4C toward Quan Ba Heaven Gate, then continue to Tam Son Town. After passing Tam Son Gas Station, you’ll ride a few more kilometers to reach Cua Tay Ao in Coc Ma Hamlet, a spot known for its seven sharp curves. At the final bend, turn right onto a small road that leads directly to Lung Tam Village.

About transportation, you have two main options:

  • Join a guided tour: This is the easiest and safest choice. You can sit behind an Easy Rider, a skilled local driver who knows the roads well, and take care of the journey for you. If you prefer more independence, you can drive your own motorbike while following a local guide. An IDP is required in this case. For families or small groups, a private car tour is an ideal option.
  • Rent a motorbike: This option suits confident riders who want more freedom and adventure on the road. An IDP is also required. In case you’re unsure about the route, check out our Ha Giang motorbike loop map

We must say that each mode of transportation offers its own unique experience. But based on Lila’s local expertise, the Easy Rider option is by far the best choice for most visitors. To know more about this kind of adventure, discover our Ha Giang Loop motorcycle tour.
